Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
